Recognizing Global Accessibility Awareness

In today’s day and age it is important that we recognize some of the privileges that many individuals take for granted, like access to digital content. Recent studies have shown that over a billion individuals globally are impacted by a disability, yet only a small percentage of digital content is designed without barriers.

This year, we celebrated the 11th annual Global Accessibility Awareness Day on May 19th, 2022. Recognizing this day is done to help raise awareness around the barriers that individuals with disabilities have to overcome each and everyday. Although this day is a step in the right direction, the need to strive for accessibility across the board should happen each and every day!

How Do You Know If Your Website Is Accessible?

Unless your website was designed with the accessibility standards in mind, or has undergone an audit performed by professionals, then you can bet it does not meet the appropriate standards. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t get there with the right help! More recently we have seen a drastic increase in businesses and organizations directing efforts towards improving diversity, equity and inclusion. There are many services available, such AODA Web Accessibility, that are there to help understand the importance, requirements and benefits for your business.

How To Make Your Website Accessible?

In order to develop a website that is AODA compliant an understanding of the WCAG standards is necessary! Our team of developers have completed a website accessibility certification from the leader of website accessibility (WebAIM). We have worked to design, build and test websites under the standards for small and large business sectors. We are happy to work with your team to go through an outlined AODA website accessibility checklist to help address any problems and provide adequate solutions!
